The Austria Campus is one of the largest development projects in Europe and forms a key architectural ensemble in the new Nordbahnviertel district, located on the site of the former Nordbahnhof railway station. It consists of five office and mixed-use buildings, each with its own infrastructure and a range of additional amenities, including a hotel, numerous retail spaces, a conference center, a medical center, a kindergarten, and various restaurants.
Our role in this ambitious large-scale project was to assess the indoor climate, evaluate heating and cooling performance, and determine the overall energy demands of all buildings on-site, in line with the stringent standards of the American LEED certification system. To achieve this, several custom-designed, multi-zone thermal building and system simulation models were developed and analyzed.
Thanks to the high quality of planning and execution, as well as the shared commitment to sustainability in this highly complex construction effort, all buildings successfully achieved LEED Gold certification.
